Musical March Madness: We're movin' on up

R.I.P. "WKRP".

The "Price" was wrong.

At least "Family Ties" still got each other.

The first bracket of Channel Surfing's Musical March Madness -- our effort to determine the greatest TV theme song ever -- has come to a blazing conclusion, with some pretty heavy hitters biting the dust. (I mean, I figured "Friends" would lose to "Cheers," but for it to get only ONE vote? The Rembrandts must be spinning in their graves.)

There were a few surprise (and personally disappointing) outcomes, including "The Simpsons" getting rolled over by "The Flintstones" (never underestimate the appeal of a good sing-along), and "Batman" POW!-ZOING!-BAMF!ing the snot out of "The Twilight Zone." But that's democracy for you.

Thank you to everyone who voted so far, but there's even more fun to be had. Now it's time for our champions to go head-to-head as we move this battle royale forward.

To save space and time, there won't be embedded YouTube clips for this bracket, only links. Also, each show will have a letter designation, so when you leave your comment you only have to type the letter, and not the whole show title. Hope this helps. (If not, feel free to write the whole title as usual.)

Match-Up 1: A) "Cheers" vs. B) "Sanford and Son"

Match-Up 2: C) "Bonanza" vs. D) "Mission: Impossible"

Match-Up 3: E) "The Addams Family" vs. F) "Gilligan's Island"

Match-Up 4: G) "Hill Street Blues" vs. H) "The X-Files"

Match-Up 5: I) "Jeopardy!" vs. J) "The Flintstones"

Match-Up 6: K) "The Monkees" vs. L) "The Muppet Show"

Match-Up 7: M) "The Jeffersons" vs. N) "The Facts of Life"

Match-Up 8: O) "Batman" vs. P) "The Greatest American Hero"

And because I can't seem to post anything without at least ONE embedded YouTube clip, here is my personal choice for Greatest Theme Song Ever.
