Business time in Brew City
Bret? Present.
Flight of the Conchords fans: I'm down to my socks as I make this announcement.
New Zealand's 4th most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo is coming to Milwaukee in May. (Awwww yeah, that's it.)
Jemaine Clement (he's the Captain) and Bret McKenzie (that's Tennille) have an album coming out April 22 on Sub Pop, with the tour to follow. The parody duo -- who have killer melodies to go with their hilariously deadpan lyrics -- is playing May 22 at the Riverside Theater. Pre-sale is Wednesday at noon; tickets are $35. (That's right, baby.)
If you have HBO or picked up the Season One DVD after a Conchords-obsessed friend kept singing a song about "getting lewd with food," you know what all the fuss is about. A second HBO season is slated for this year, but since the band used up "98 percent" of its songs for Season One, it may be pushed back to early 2009. (I'm quite sleepy.)
For ticket info, check out the Riverside Web site. Then there's this clip from "Letterman."
And this is why people need to comment more frequently!

They are coming to DC to at GWU. I'm hoping they'll stop by UVA in Charlottesville cuz that's closer.
In case you didn't see or remember these Outback ads featuring Jemaine doing a horrible Australian accent:
