Hulu: An evil plot to destroy the world
That said, the game became a nail-biter in the fourth quarter, so instead of John Madden's mumbling merely serving as background noise, I decided to sit down and focus intently on whether the Arizona Cardinals could pull off an improbable Super Bowl win.
That's when I saw Alec Baldwin's pudgy face shilling for Hulu. And I laughed as hard as I did while watching last week's "30 Rock" re-run where Liz Lemon goes to her high school reunion.
I can't definitively say it was the best Super Bowl commercial that aired last night since I didn't watch them all. But it was my clear favorite during the time I was actually paying attention. (Here's Entertainment Weekly's take on the hits and misses.)
Anybody really dig deep on these things? Have a favorite or a YouTube clip you'd like to share? Want to write a mini-review on the Boss' halftime show (complete with gratuitous crotch shot)?

Here's my take
By Ms. Quarter, At February 2, 2009 at 1:24 PM
My only beef with the Super Bowl festivities this year has to be all the criticism Jennifer Hudson has received for singing the National Anthem, a la lip synching. Give the woman a break! This was her first public appearance since the tragedy that struck her family -- and not only was it a public appearance but arguably her biggest appearance to date.
With millions watching, a stadium hanging on her every word and, ahem, tackling one of the most difficult songs ever -- I think she deserves a little credit. The rendition was perfect -- stellar, in fact and let's not forget Jennifer has the pipes that created the backing track. Ever since Nipplegate, backing tracks are mandatory for performing artists, so even though The Boss performed his oldies live -- with live crotch shots -- Jennifer was just following suit of National Anthem performers.
So give her the credit she deserves. I'll be honest -- it's the only thing I kept the volume on for during the Super Bowl.
