A Television Time-Out Leaves This Channel Surfer Relaxed

No television? No problem.

Two weeks ago I wondered how I would survive a vacation without the comfort of television to lull me into oblivion each day. The shocking answer I found is quite simply this -- yes, it's possible.

In today's digital age, it's difficult to get away from television's reach -- last year, a study showed that one in three Americans regularly watch TV outside of their home (at the gym, work, at bars etc).

Now, I can't lie. Seeing Jon Stewart's beloved face last night was certainly a welcome sight for my weary jet-lagged eyes, so I know I'm not entirely ready to give up the pleasures of the boob tube. But a break from the constant din feels cleansing, leaving me in a much better position to scope out my television choices.

The question remains, though, what will I watch in this dearth of summer programming? Suggestions are welcome.
